REGULAR EXAMINATIONS

Examinations are generally conducted either at the end of each course or at the end of each semester. If the Professor concerned decides, he can fix another date of his convenience. The evaluation is based on the oral or written exams, assignments, presentations, class works and the overall performance in the class. Ample opportunities are to be provided for more reading, preparing the papers and, thus forming a critical, integral and comprehensive vision of the subject taught in the class. Students score a maximum of 30% of marks of the subject in the internal assessment and the exams would be conducted for the rest (70%). A student appears for a re-examination in case of a failure. However, he/she cannot appear for more than two re-examinations. In case of a failure, even in the third attempt, he/she does a tutorial with the professor concerned with the approval of the Director. The professors may employ any of the following methods to assess a student

  1. For a one credit course: an oral examination lasting 7-10 minutes or a written examination of one and half hours
  2. For a 2 credit course:  a written examination of 2 hours and an oral examination lasting for 7-10 min
  3. For a 3 credit course: a written examination of 3 hours and an oral examination of 10-12 min
  4. In all cases 30% of the marks will be given on the basis of internal assessment
